Technical Superintendent

Reports to: Managing Director
Location: Office / Onboard / Remote

Role Summary
Responsible for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective technical operation of the company’s hydrogen-powered vessels. Works closely with the technical management company, crew, and internal teams to maintain system reliability, minimize downtime, and ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Operations

• Oversee operation and maintenance of hydrogen propulsion and supporting systems.
• Respond to technical issues and coordinate effective resolution.
• Monitor preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure high vessel availability.
• Represent the company in technical matters and industry events.
• Ensure compliance with class, flag, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead risk assessments and implement corrective actions.

Performance & Predictive Maintenance (with Data Team)

• Work with data teams to track performance and identify failure trends.
• Develop predictive maintenance strategies to increase reliability and efficiency.
• Optimize system performance, fuel use, and equipment life.
• Assess potential for commercializing performance and predictive maintenance tools.

Financial & Cost Control

• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost control for technical operations.
• Make balanced decisions during unplanned technical events.
• Translate external technical management proposals into clear operational and financial guidance.

Stakeholder & Crew Coordination

• Maintain constructive collaboration with the external technical management company.
• Liaise with OEMs, class societies, and regulatory bodies.
• Support and guide crew in safe hydrogen system maintenance and operational best practices.
• Provide training and mentorship on hydrogen safety and procedures.

Strategic Support

• Contribute to strategic planning and future fleet development.
• Assist with technical input for business development and customer discussions.
• Provide research and insights to support market and operational decisions.
