Darwin Recruitment are currently hiring for a Senior Systems Engineer within a Programs team in Luxembourg for a space technology company founded in 2007 that designs, builds, and operates nanosatellites and small satellites. Their portfolio spans: CubeSat & small satellite platforms Satellite subsystems (communications, power, propulsion, attitude control) Mission and constellation services including design, integration, testing, operations, and launch support They serve clients across government, defence, academia, and private industry, including space agencies, universities, and commercial organisations.
About the Job
As the Senior Systems Engineer in the Programs Business Unit, you will lead a team of systems engineers, oversee the overall system design and architecture, and serve as the primary technical point of contact for the customer. This role encompasses a wide range of technical responsibilities, from defining spacecraft requirements to in-space commissioning. You will engage in various disciplines, including hardware and software designs, integration, spacecraft budgets, mechanical design, manufacturing, and more, working closely with specialized colleagues in each field.
Responsibilities include:
* Leading the project’s systems team.
* Designing mission and spacecraft system architecture.
* Preparing documentation in accordance with space engineering standards.
* Participating in all aspects of mission and spacecraft design, from requirement management to spacecraft integration and verification.
* Managing internal and external interfaces (payload, ground segment, launcher, etc.).
* Collaborating with counterparts in other Business Units and geographical locations.
* Being involved in both high-level design and hands-on development/implementation.
Qualifications:
* MSc-level (or higher) engineering education and/or high-tech industry experience, preferably in space systems, spacecraft, or mission design.
* Strong proficiency in systems engineering principles, including requirements analysis, architecture, integration, verification, and validation.
* In-depth understanding of satellites, spacecraft, launch vehicles, and related space technologies.
* Experience with CAD (e.g., SOLIDWORKS), mission analysis tools (e.g., STK, GMAT), and familiarity with scripting/programming (e.g., Python, Matlab).
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks in space missions or projects.
* High quality awareness, understanding of aerospace standards (e.g., ECSS, NASA), and experience with quality assurance processes.
* Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
* Results-oriented, proactive, autonomous, and adaptable with the ability to meet deadlines and work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
