Light Industrial Sales Representative
Focus: Compressed Air Systems ≤50 HP | Territory: Chicago, IL
Role Overview
As a Light Industrial Sales Representative, you will have primary responsibility for managing customer relationships, sales activities, and account development within the Chicago metropolitan area. This role is focused on light industrial and commercial customers utilizing compressed air systems 50 horsepower and below. You will be accountable for driving equipment, service, and solution sales while supporting overall regional sales and marketing objectives. The position reports directly to the Regional Sales Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage all customer-related sales activities within the assigned Chicago territory.
- Prospect new customers and re-engage drifted or inactive accounts to generate incremental revenue.
- Sell and support Quincy compressed air equipment and services, with a primary focus on systems under 50 HP, including air compressors, dryers, and air treatment solutions.
- Design, size, and layout light industrial compressed air solutions tailored to customer applications and budgets.
- Develop and maintain relationships with light industrial end users, contractors, and select dealer partners to grow market share.
- Prepare and manage quotations for equipment, fixed-price services, service agreements, and aftermarket offerings.
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, opportunities, and quotes within the CRM system; manage quote logs and follow-up activities.
- Conduct basic compressed air system audits and present findings and improvement recommendations to customers.
- Coordinate with local utility companies to identify and process applicable energy-efficiency rebates.
- Strengthen customer relationships through effective troubleshooting and problem resolution of existing compressed air systems.
- Monitor and analyze the competitive landscape within the light industrial compressor market.
- Maintain current knowledge of Quincy products, solutions, and value propositions.
- Provide product and application training to customers as required.
- Achieve or exceed assigned sales and profitability targets within the territory.
Qualifications & Experience
- 1-3 years of experience in the compressor industry or industrial equipment sales preferred.
- Working knowledge of light industrial compressed air products and applications, including compressors, dryers, vacuum systems, and air treatment.
- Ability to develop and execute territory and account-level sales plans.
- Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Highly self-motivated, organized, and results-oriented.
- Proficient in CRM systems, Microsoft Excel, search tools, and database management.
- Ability to travel occasionally for training sessions and sales meetings.
