Senior Mechanical Engineer

Darwin Recruitment have partnered with an emerging autonomous maritime business to appoint a Mechanical Engineer into its growing hardware team.

This is a hands-on role for an engineer who enjoys building real products, not just producing drawings from a distance.

You’d be supporting the development of next-generation unmanned maritime hardware – taking ownership of mechanical design work, prototyping, test activity, and product improvement as systems move toward production.

What will you be doing?
* Own mechanical design work across hardware assemblies and integrated systems
* Build, prototype, test, and refine designs in a hands-on environment
* Support product development from concept through to production readiness
* Work closely with manufacturing and internal engineering teams
* Improve designs for cost, reliability, and manufacturability
* Help solve practical integration and hardware performance issues

What can you bring?
* Mechanical design experience using SOLIDWORKS
* Hands-on build and prototyping experience
* Strong understanding of DFM / DFA principles
* Experience working with machined parts, assemblies, and production-focused designs
* Practical engineering judgement and a strong product mindset
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving requirements

Desirable background
* Robotics, autonomous systems, marine, aerospace, or advanced hardware
* Electromechanical or sensor-integrated products
* Designing for demanding or outdoor environments

Location
* On-site | South Bay/Greater Los Angeles area
