Business Development Manager – Space Industry
Location: Belgium (Hybrid)
Relocation to Belgium or regular travel within Belgium required
Darwin Space is currently partnering with a well-established European space engineering company to identify a Business Development Manager to support the continued expansion of its institutional space programmes across Europe.
This organisation is a recognised player within the European space ecosystem, delivering advanced engineering solutions across satellite communications, signal processing, navigation, radar, and spectrum monitoring technologies. The company is regularly involved in technically complex programmes for major institutional customers, including the European Space Agency and the European Commission.
Backed by one of Europe’s largest space groups, the business combines the agility of a specialised engineering organisation with the stability and reach of a major European aerospace group. With the European space sector continuing to expand, the company is strengthening its commercial team to support the capture of new programmes.
The Role
The Business Development Manager will focus on identifying, shaping, and securing opportunities within European institutional space programmes.
Working closely with engineering teams, leadership, and industrial partners across Europe, the successful candidate will support market positioning, build industrial consortia, and contribute to the company’s long-term commercial strategy.
This role sits at the intersection of technology, strategy, and partnership development within the European space sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and develop opportunities within European space and security programmes
- Build relationships with institutional customers and industrial partners
- Define positioning strategies and bid approaches in collaboration with senior leadership
- Build and coordinate industrial consortia for institutional tenders
- Support the preparation of competitive proposals for major space programmes
- Contribute to long-term commercial strategy and market positioning
- Act as a key interface between customers, partners, and internal engineering teams
Candidate Profile
The client is seeking a commercially driven professional with experience in the space sector and the ability to operate in complex institutional environments.
Required Experience
- Experience in the space industry is essential
- Business development, sales, or commercial experience within space, aerospace, or defence
- Familiarity with institutional programmes or public tenders involving organisations such as the European Space Agency or the European Commission
- Understanding of technical domains such as satellite communications, radar, navigation, or signal processing
- Ability to engage confidently with both technical and commercial stakeholders
- Strong communication skills and a strategic mindset
Fluency in English is required.
Eligibility Requirements
- EU citizens only
- Eligible for EU security clearance
- Candidates must be willing to relocate to Belgium or travel regularly within Belgium
