Cryptography Engineer – Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE)
Location: Remote (USA-based preferred)
Type: Full-Time
Clearance: Not required, but U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency may be needed for certain projects
About the Role
A growing technology company at the forefront of quantum-safe security and advanced cryptography is seeking a Cryptography Engineer with deep expertise in Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE). This is a unique opportunity to work on mission-critical technology that enables secure computation over encrypted data-unlocking transformative applications in data privacy, cloud security, and beyond.
You’ll join a multidisciplinary R&D team focused on designing and optimizing next-generation encryption protocols and libraries that are both performant and quantum-resilient.
Key Responsibilities
-
Design, implement, and optimize FHE schemes, protocols, and supporting libraries
-
Conduct applied research to evaluate the practicality and performance of FHE in real-world scenarios
-
Collaborate with product, engineering, and cryptography teams to integrate FHE solutions into commercial-grade software
-
Contribute to benchmarking, threat modeling, and performance tuning across a range of use cases
-
Stay current with emerging trends in post-quantum cryptography and privacy-preserving computation
-
Write high-quality, maintainable code in C/C++, Rust, or similar low-level languages
Required Skills & Experience
-
Proven experience implementing or optimizing Fully Homomorphic Encryption (CKKS, BFV, TFHE, etc.)
-
Strong foundation in applied cryptography, including lattice-based schemes
-
Proficient in systems-level programming (C++, Rust, or equivalent)
-
Solid understanding of performance tradeoffs in cryptographic algorithms
-
Ability to read and implement academic papers and translate them into usable code
-
Comfortable working in a research-driven, fast-moving environment
Preferred Qualifications
-
Advanced degree (MSc, PhD) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Cryptography, or related field
-
Experience with popular FHE libraries such as Microsoft SEAL, PALISADE, Concrete, or HElib
-
Exposure to other privacy-preserving technologies (e.g., MPC, ZK, differential privacy)
-
Background in secure systems architecture or cloud-based security models
-
Published research or open-source contributions in cryptographic domains
