We’re seeking a seasoned professional with expertise in the industrialization of advanced materials for sensing and related applications. Join one of Poland’s most ambitious integrated photonics initiatives, supported by the IPCEI ME/CT programme. This role is ideal for a visionary leader experienced in photonic integration and micro-assembly, particularly in the heterogeneous integration of mid-infrared photonic integrated circuits (PICs).
Key Responsibilities:

Lead R&D efforts focused on integration and micro-assembly technologies for mid-infrared PIC platforms
-
Oversee the development of assembly design kits (ADKs)
-
Coordinate the design and implementation of integration, assembly, and packaging processes

Develop and formalize integration standards
-
Collaborate with external research teams
-
Mentor junior and mid-level engineers in photonic integration and assembly

Organize training sessions and support team development
Requirements:
-
PhD (or equivalent experience) in mechatronics, electronics, photonics, or a related field
-
Deep knowledge of hybrid and heterogeneous integration methods
-
Experience in optoelectronic integration and prototyping
-
Familiarity with CAD tools for electrical, thermal, and mechanical design
-
Proven track record in applied photonic systems and industry collaborations
-
Hands-on experience with photonic platforms, including testing and data analysis
-
Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
-
Proficiency in English
Desirable Skills:
-
Background in mid-infrared technologies (e.g., detectors, sources, waveguides)
-
Understanding of assembly design kits for photonic/electronic platforms
-
Knowledge of mid-IR sensing and communication technologies
-
Experience leading R&D teams in photonics or related fields
