You’ll already know the frustration of working on kit that’s been half-designed before you even arrive. This role flips that script.

This deep-tech R&D lab is investing heavily in building up a new team, and they’re giving you a clean slate. Their focus? Developing scalable, high-performance photonic modules for cutting-edge uses like LiDAR, metrology, broadband sensing, and optical comms.

You’ll be the go-to expert for photonics packaging.

This means leading how their optoelectronic modules are assembled, from hybrid packaging and thermal engineering, through to CAD design, active alignment and automation. You’ll also help shape their in-house assembly capability, from tooling choices through to scaling for volume manufacturing.

It’s a role that offers creative freedom, but also structure: robust investment, high-end facilities, and a growing engineering team in the Lausanne area.

You’ll thrive here if you:

· Are comfortable getting hands-on with lab tools and prototype rigs

· Know your way around thermal/mechanical modelling and CAD

· Have solid experience with packaging lasers, optoelectronics, or silicon photonics

· Can script your way through automation tasks (LabVIEW, Python or MATLAB)

· Are fluent in English and used to documenting work clearly for production teams

A relevant MSc or PhD is expected. Prior industry experience? Ideal, but not a deal-breaker.
