Senior Accountant

Compensation Range: 97,750 to 120,700 USD base salary, plus benefits and potential incentives
We are a rocket manufacturing company producing highly engineered launch and spacecraft hardware. As we scale our production lines and tighten our operational controls, we are seeking a Senior Accountant with strong manufacturing and cost accounting experience to help strengthen our financial foundation. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys digging into inventory, cost structures and process accuracy in a highly dynamic environment.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced individual contributor who is ready to grow into a first line leadership role. You will work closely with operations, supply chain and program teams while supporting the finance function in a hands on, high accountability environment.
This is a full time onsite role due to the close interaction required with manufacturing, inventory and operational processes.
Role Overview
The Senior Accountant will focus on financial reporting, inventory accuracy, cost analysis and compliance while supporting month end and year end close. A major emphasis will be placed on inventory management, cost accounting, and improving financial clarity across production operations. You will help clean up historical inventory issues, strengthen cost tracking methods and ensure that all accounting practices reflect actual manufacturing activity.
You will be expected to operate independently, manage complex accounting tasks and contribute to the development of a scalable financial structure as the company grows.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting and Analysis
Analyze financial data, identify trends and variances, and provide insights supporting better decision making. Prepare management reports and financial analysis as needed.
General Ledger and Accounting Operations
Prepare journal entries and perform account reconciliations. Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure accurate account coding. Support and lead components of the month end and year end close.
Inventory and Cost Accounting
Address and resolve inventory discrepancies, improve cost tracking methods and ensure inventory values accurately reflect manufacturing activity. Partner with operations to understand cost drivers and inventory movements.
Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Support
Oversee AP and AR processes as needed. Review vendor invoices, expense reports and payment cycles. Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding items.
Compliance and Internal Controls
Ensure adherence to GAAP, tax regulations and internal company policies. Support internal and external audits. Maintain documentation and strengthen internal controls across the finance function.
Cross Functional Partnership
Collaborate closely with manufacturing, supply chain and engineering teams to build financial clarity across production processes. Communicate effectively across departments to resolve issues and support operational accountability.
Required Experience
The ideal candidate will bring:
- A bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- A CPA certification preferred or progress toward completion
- Five or more years of accounting experience, with at least five years in inventory and cost accounting
- Experience with month end close, reconciliations and financial reporting
- Manufacturing and startup environment experience required
- Experience with Odoo17 is a plus
- Public accounting experience is a plus
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and complex formulas
- Experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite or Odoo
- Strong understanding of GAAP and regulatory compliance
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to work independently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Ability to adapt quickly and operate effectively in a fast paced environment
