Senior Control Software Engineer – Space Laser Communications
Singapore (Relocation supported)
️ Lasercomms * Aerospace * Embedded Systems * Control Engineering
We’re supporting a fast-growing space hardware company based in Singapore, working at the cutting edge of wireless laser communication-both terrestrially and in orbit. They’re on a mission to bring ultra-fast internet connectivity to underserved regions, and they’re now building a space-based laser network. Think optical links between satellites-but smaller, faster, and far more accessible than traditional systems.
Right now, they’re looking for a Senior Control Software Engineer to join their Space division and take ownership of control system development for lasercomms payloads in LEO and beyond.
What you’ll be doing:
-
Designing and developing embedded control software for high-performance laser communication systems
-
Defining and implementing control algorithms, signal processing modules, and fault detection logic
-
Working closely with hardware, software, and systems teams to simulate, implement, and test controls across both software and real hardware
-
Supporting validation through hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and simulation environments
-
Creating software that works reliably in challenging conditions (i.e. in space)
What we’re looking for:
-
5+ years in C++ development for embedded systems
-
Strong control systems background-design, simulation, tuning, and implementation
-
Experience designing for complex, mission-critical environments (aerospace, space, robotics, etc.)
-
Comfortable working independently while collaborating across teams (hardware, SW, test, etc.)
-
Experience with space-grade protocols, fault tolerance, modulation/demodulation is a big plus
⚙️ Even better if you have:
-
Direct experience in lasercomms (especially space-based)
-
Familiarity with ADCS, satellite control systems, or orbital dynamics
-
Experience with Simulink, STK, Matlab Aerospace Toolbox, or ROS/ROS2
-
Background in developing space-qualified embedded software or FPGA-based control systems
Why this role?
-
Work on a small, fast-moving space team with real missions in development
-
Be part of a company building a full space lasercomms stack-from pole to orbit
-
Opportunity to shape control architecture from simulation all the way to hardware
-
Start remote, relocate to Singapore over time (visa + relocation supported)
If you’re currently working in satellite control, aerospace robotics, or have hands-on experience developing embedded control systems for laser terminals, we’d love to hear from you.
