Darwin Space are partnered with an exciting space company who are building advanced spacecraft engines and launch vehicle systems. They are looking for a highly driven and analytical Global Supply Manager who can take ownership of both strategic sourcing and hands on procurement execution across direct and indirect categories.
This is a high impact role that sits at the centre of their aerospace supply chain. They need someone who can operate confidently with suppliers, program leadership and engineering teams, while also handling the urgency and precision required to support a production environment where a late part can become a program risk. It is an ideal opportunity for a supply chain professional who enjoys both commercial strategy and tactical execution.
They value individuals with strong judgment, excellent communication skills, and a proactive mindset. This role offers significant visibility across launch vehicle and spacecraft engine programs.
Role Overview
The Global Supply Manager will own sourcing strategy, supplier management and end to end procurement for complex engineered aerospace components. You will run competitive RFQs, negotiate commercial terms, build should cost models, manage supplier performance and resolve material shortages. This role requires experience in both strategic sourcing and fast paced tactical purchasing, and the ability to partner closely with engineering, quality, finance and program management.
You will be expected to anticipate risks, build strong supplier relationships and ensure availability, compliance and cost effectiveness across a global supply base.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Management
- Develop and run strategic RFQ processes across global aerospace suppliers
- Build and maintain should cost models for castings, forgings, machined parts, composites and assemblies
- Qualify and manage suppliers in alignment with AS9100, AS9102, DPAS and ITAR requirements
- Lead supplier negotiations, long term agreements and regular business reviews
- Support new supplier qualification in partnership with engineering and quality
Direct and Indirect Procurement
- Own end to end procurement of direct aerospace materials and components
- Coordinate with production, MRP and planning to meet build schedules and program milestones
- Support procurement of indirect categories including MRO, tooling, facilities and professional services
Tactical Procurement Execution
- Manage high volume purchasing activities including PO issuance, tracking and expediting
- Resolve material shortages, delivery escapes and supplier risks with urgency
- Coordinate critical supplier payments and work closely with accounts payable
Metrics and Reporting
- Own procurement KPIs including cost savings, cost avoidance, OTD, PPV, lead time and aging
- Produce clear reporting for program and executive stakeholders
- Use data to drive decision making and supplier accountability
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Aerospace Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
- Ten or more years of progressive procurement or supply chain experience in aerospace, defense, aviation, consumer electronics or automotive industries
- Experience managing RFQs for complex engineered components
- Strong background in should cost modeling and cost analysis
- Proven ability to manage high volume tactical procurement in a production environment
- Experience with MRP or ERP driven purchasing
- Familiarity with AS9100, AS9102 and aerospace regulatory standards
- Understanding of ITAR and EAR export control regulations
- Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or IFS
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to present procurement metrics clearly
Desired Multipliers
- CPSM or CSCP certification
- Experience supporting global supplier networks across multiple regions
- Familiarity with DPAS rated programs and FAR or DFARS flow downs
- Commodity expertise in machined structures, castings, composites, avionics or aerospace raw materials
- Experience supporting new product introduction or certification programs
